We realize that these are uncertain days for us all. At a time when there are so many unknowns, the one consistency we often see rise is the desire to give and help others.
Small acts of kindness can have the greatest impact. Buying a cup of coffee for the car behind you, delivering a bag of groceries to your neighbor, or buying dinner at the small business down the street, are all small acts of kindness that help remind us that we are part of a larger community.
For our CASA youth who have suffered the loss of family, friends, and their home due to abuse and neglect, they often already feel isolated and alone missing out on that sense of community. Many foster youth don't have the ability to Zoom or FaceTime to stay connected and are currently lacking the social supports and connections necessary for their well-being. Our CASA volunteers have been critical in making sure our youth are experiencing that personal connection and letting them know someone cares and is devoted to their well-being. CASA volunteers are social distancing their bodies, but not their hearts.
We are asking for your help, as a result of COVID-19 CASA canceled the 13th Annual Heart of a Hero Run that was scheduled for Saturday, April 25th. The Heart of a Hero Run not only raises $20,000 annually, but more importantly it celebrates ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Please help us in letting our youth now that they are not alone. By making a donation, you are ensuring that our foster youth continue to have a network of support during this difficult time and that we are able to continue to recruit, screen, train, and supervise community volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates for youth in Foster Care. Every child deserves a CHAMPION, join us to ensure they do. Be Extraordinary today!
